The Dance of the Dirty Devil can be considered one of the oldest traditions or representations in celebrations.
The name “Dirty” comes from the fact that in ancient times the costumes for this outfit were made from dirty manta fabric and the red stripes were painted with achiote and the black ones with charcoal, so it was something superficial and did not stick well enough, since when the fabric got wet with the dancer's sweat, it would run and everyone would end up dirty, hence its name.
