The Bridge of the Americas is a bridge for wheeled vehicles located in Panama that crosses the Panama Canal, at the height of its Pacific entrance, and that connects the towns of Balboa (in Panama City) to the northeast, and the district of Arraiján to the southwest.

It was inaugurated on October 12, 1962, and occupies the same location as the ferry it replaced.

The United States authorities tried to call it the Thatcher Bridge, but the Legislative Assembly of Panama decided on the name "Bridge of the Americas", which was made official by resolution of October 2, 1962 , because it was not only a bridge that linked the capital of Panama with the interior of the country by land, but it is also a route that connects the continental masses of North America and Central America with South America, separated by the Panama Canal.

The bridge is a modillion arch design, 1654 m long. The weight of the steel structure is 16,975 tonnes. With a height at its highest point of 117 metres above mean sea level. The maximum clear height under the main span is 61.3 m at high tide. It was built between 1958 and 1962 by the United States, at an estimated cost by the United States of US$20 million.
