The Panamanian pollera, considered the most beautiful traditional costume in the world, is synonymous with culture, tradition and luxury. Today, the artisans who make the polleras de gala de labor can be found anywhere in the country, although they are more concentrated in the Azuero region.
Among the most expensive skirts are the gala skirts from Santa Maria, but this will depend on the type of work they are made with. They are classified into two large branches: gala skirts and work skirts, although each region has its own skirts and the prices vary, depending on the work involved.
Currently, the three main techniques of making a skirt are: embroidered talcum powder (fabric on fabric), openwork darned work (made with thread) and marked. The making of a skirt can take between 1 and a half to 2 years.
